New York City Sports Network was saddened to learn about the passing of longtime PSAL Executive Director, Donald Douglas. The PSAL operates all sports within the NYC Public School System.

Douglas was vacationing on the island of Jamaica when he died. Reports from friends state that he died of a heart attack after a bad fall eventually led to the forming of a blood clot. After 35 years at the Department of Education Douglas retired earlier this week from the PSAL. He was Executive Director of the Public Schools Athletic League since 2004.

The statement from the league: “PSAL mourns the loss of one of our beloved leaders, Donald J. Douglas. “A pillar of the PSAL, we appreciate the years of service he gave to NYC. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the entire PSAL/DOE community.”

We will provide more details as they become available.
