Thousands of middle school kids will be left unsupervised for the longest school break of the year unless Mayor de Blasio reverses course and funds imperiled summer camp programs, advocates say.
De Blasio’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2018, which he unveiled Jan. 24, includes $14.9 million to pay for 22,800 free camp slots this summer. That allocation is down from $17.5 million for 26,000 summer camp slots in 2016.
